Improvements coming to Mt. Pleasant industrial park

Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Agency (EDA), the Mt. Pleasant industrial park will be seeing some much needed improvements in the near future.  The Mt. Pleasant Community Development and Renewal Agency (CDRA) received a federal grant for over $249,000 to improve the infrastructure at the park, which currently supports 16 businesses.  Four of those businesses plan on expanding due to the improved water, sewer and road access that will be facilitated by the grant.  That expansion is expected to create 100 jobs over the next nine years.  The grant will provide 70% of the funding for the improvements with Mt. Pleasant providing the remaining 30%, making a total of $359,000.  According to Monte Bona, executive director for the CDRA, the Economic Development Agency has provided close to $1.3 million for industrial park improvements in Mt. Pleasant over the years.
