(Salt Lake City, UT) — Researchers who track snowfall and water levels in Utah are struggling to find a positive message in the numbers they’re seeing this winter. Hydrologists announced yesterday that Utah’s snowpack is around 88-percent of average and would not climb much higher before the end of the snow season. The announcement derails hopes of an above-average snowpack that could recharge the state’s already low reservoir levels. The water experts did say that soil moisture has improved this year, meaning more water will reach reservoirs when the snowpack starts to melt.
