EMERY COUNTY, Utah (AP)-Per the official Twitter account of the Manti-La Sal National Forest, an avalanche has occurred in Huntington Canyon Friday.

The release came out Friday at 10:15 am MST and states the incident occurred at milepost 31 on S.R. 31 which connects Fairview to Huntington.

The Utah Department of Transportation says the incident will likely close S.R 31 all weekend.

To get to Emery and Carbon County from Sanpete County, drivers can take U.S. 89 through Thistle en route to U.S. 6 which will take you to Price.

Additionally, Salina Canyon, I-70 just east of Salina, connects with S.R. 10 which can take you to Ferron, Castle Dale and Huntington.
