(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah House Speaker Brad Wilson is running for the U.S. Senate. Wilson made it official Wednesday, announcing he’s running for the Republican nomination to fill the seat GOP Senator Mitt Romney will vacate in 2025. Political observers have been expecting Wilson to get into the race after Romney announced earlier this month that he won’t run for a second term next year. Wilson announced last week that he’ll step down from his current position on November 15th. Riverton Mayor Trent Staggs and Roosevelt Mayor Rod Bird Junior have already announced they’re running for the GOP Senate nomination.
