SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Gov. Gary R. Herbert has appointed the director of the Utah Sentencing Commission to fill a judicial vacancy on the Second District Court for Weber, Morgan and Davis counties.

Jennifer Valencia will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Scott Hadley.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate.

Valencia is a former deputy district attorney for the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office and a former state assistant attorney general.
