(Cedar City, UT) — Work is officially underway on the new sheriff’s complex and correctional facility in Iron County. Leaders gathered Friday for a ceremonial groundbreaking at the facility being built south of Cedar City Airport. It is taking over for the previous jail that was built nearly four decades ago, and Iron County officials noted the new building will be “state of the art.” The county is using money from a new sales tax that was passed by commissioners earlier this year.
