Gov. Cox Urges Utahns To Skip Personal Fireworks To Celebrate Pioneer Day

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Governor Spencer Cox is urging Utahns to put away personal fireworks as they celebrate Pioneer Day this weekend. Governor Cox said the state is at a “tipping point” with exceptionally dry conditions caused by the ongoing drought. Cox says he will go to organized fireworks displays for the Days of ’47 Parade and in his hometown of Fairview. The governor is pushing the Legislature to enact statewide firework restrictions that would go into effect depending on current drought conditions.
