Gov. Cox Open to School Voucher Bill If Money Available

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Governor Cox is open to endorsing a school voucher bill during the upcoming legislative session. But, he says it all depends on how much money lawmakers are willing to free up for public education. The governor’s proposed budget includes six-thousand-dollar pay raises for teachers. Some lawmakers want to attach the raises to the passage of a voucher bill that would let parents use public money to pay for private schools. Governor Cox threatened to veto last year’s proposed school voucher bill that ultimately ended up dying in the state House of Representatives.
