A little before 3:00 p.m. on Nov. 30, Richfield City police responded to a gas leak near the intersection of Main Street and 500 North. According to reports, workers accidentally punctured the line while working on a project in the area.

This coincided with students getting out of school at Pahvant Elementary and this is the intersection designated for them to cross. To keep students safe RCPD diverted the students a block north while they worked on fixing the line. Officials believed the line would be fixed by 4:00 p.m. the same day.
