Former Utah County Commissioner Pleads Guilty To Fraud

(Salt Lake City, UT)  –  A former Utah County commissioner could avoid jail time by pleading guilty to one count of communication fraud.  Gary Jay Anderson entered his plea yesterday in a deal that saw three other counts against him dropped.  Anderson admitted to defrauding investors in a scheme where he and a partner impersonated leaders of the Mormon Church.  Prosecutors say the 70-year-old can avoid going to jail if he repays 25-thousand-dollars in restitution by his sentencing in August.Â
