A small lightning caused wildfire will be growing in Wayne County over the next few days.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, the .10 acre Park Ridge Fire began on July 24 when lightning ignited a single ponderosa pine in the Park Ridge area of Boulder Mountain.
Officials with the Fremont River Ranger District plan to manage the ignition to aid in a healthy pine ecosystem. Low intensity burns will start Monday.
Hand ignitions are planned for approximately 500 acres.
Forest Road #539 may be temporarily closed during ignitions.
Smoke is expected to be visible from Highway 12, Oak Creek and Pleasant Creek Campgrounds and surrounding areas.
No structures are threatened.
