(Cedar City, UT) — Heavy rains set off flooding in Cedar City that hit homes and streets, as well as the hospital and the Iron County Jail on Thursday. The hospital kept treating patients even as water invaded the emergency department, med search units, the cafeteria, and some patient rooms. Hospital officials said flooding hit the south side of the hospital, including the operating room. Surgeries planned for today are being rescheduled. Water leaking from the ceiling at the jail flooded some cells as heavy rain intensified. Cedar City firefighters pumped water out of the hospital and jail with assistance from Hurricane Valley and Hilldale crews.
