Flash Floods Lead To Stranded Tourists, Rescues At Capitol Reef National Park

(Wayne County, UT) — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says six people had to be rescued by helicopter after flash flooding at Capitol Reef National Park. The Sheriff’s Office says flooding in Capitol Gorge and Grand Wash areas left visitors and park rangers stranded yesterday afternoon and disabled at least seven vehicles. No serious injuries were reported. The Sheriff’s Office said shuttles were provided to take some of the stranded tourists to a local hotel last night.
