Around 7:00 p.m. on Mar. 19, Sanpete county dispatch received a call from an individual stating that his wife was involved in a snowmobile accident.

The Mapleton woman, Christine Hood age 54, had already passed away from her injuries by the time authorities arrived.

According to her husband, while driving the snowmobile, Hood jumped a small hill not knowing of a canal on the other side. After jumping the hill, the snowmobile crashed into the embankment of the canal.
