(Moab, UT) — The family of a Ugandan activist killed in Arches National Park is being awarded more than ten-and-a-half-million dollars in damages. That was the verdict of a federal judge in Utah yesterday in a wrongful death lawsuit against the U.S. government, the largest in state history. Esther Nakajjigo [[ NAH-kuh-gi-gew ]] died in June of 2020 when wind swung open a loose park gate and hit her rental car. The gate impaled the 25-year-old and severed her head. She had been at the park as part of a trip with her husband.
