A dangerous sex offender who escaped from a state mental hospital in Kansas has been arrested in Wayne County. John Freeman Colt, age 42, escaped on June 30. Investigators believe he “planned his escape several months in advance, obtaining a replica of a staff ID badge and dress clothes.”
According to reports, the State of Kansas courts deemed Colt a Sexually Violent Predator at high risk to commit a future sex offense and too dangerous to be released.
According to Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis, Colt was arrested on the nights of Sept. 27 in Wayne County and is currently being held in the Sevier County Jail.
