Emery County Sheriff’s Office rescues boy scout troupe in Green River

The Emery County Sheriff’s Office is sending out a warning after they rescued a group of Boy Scouts from Cedar City on the Green River Wednesday.

According to a post on Facebook, Emery County Officials helped over 20 scouts and leader to safety. The group was using mostly homemade canoes made from PVC pipe and tarp material

The Scout groups had planned to canoe from the Green River State Park to Mineral Bottoms over several days, but they only made it about four miles from the boat ramp.

The Sheriff’s Office says the river is running high and they’re now warning anyone wanting to recreate on the water to be prepared, know your limitations and do your research.
