(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Elizabeth Smart Foundation has launched a series of self-defense classes at Southern Utah University in Cedar City. Smart said she founded the class to teach women and girls self-defense techniques in several disciplines, including Brazilian jiu-jitsu. The classes start this fall and are already filled up. Smart was kidnapped from her Salt Lake City home 20 years ago and endured months of sexual abuse by her captors.
