Drowning at Yuba Lake

On June 13 just before 10:00 a.m. the Juab County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible drowning at Yuba Lake State Park.
According to witnesses, a 22 year old male and a passenger were riding on a wave runner in the West Beach area. When the wave runner made a sharp turn both riders were thrown from the vehicle, the driver did not resurface.
Neither of the individuals were wearing life vests, but the passenger was able to make it back to the shore. Search and Rescue, including dive teams, were dispatched and sonar equipment was used to try to locate the individual.
At 5:40 p.m. dive crews were able to locate the individual, identified as 22 year old Luis Leon from Springville.
