TREMONTON, Utah (AP) — Authorities say floodwaters rushed into as many as 80 yards and basements over the weekend in the small northwestern Utah city of Tremonton.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the flooding was likely caused by a combination of rain and snow.
Although the water has started to recede, Box Elder County Emergency Services director Mark Millett says that it could return in the next few days, as more rain and warm temperatures are expected.
Officials say that water was pumped out and a section of the town’s main street reopened after flooding closed it Sunday night.
Authorities say the flooding likely cost the county about $3.1 million.
