Davis County GOP Softens Post Criticizing Romney Over Delegates

SALT LAKE CITY (AP)-The Davis Country Republican Party confirms it has backtracked from a Facebook post wherein it accused former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney of “illegally obtaining” lists of delegates to the state’s GOP nominating convention.

Thursday, the party posted Romney’s campaign for a U.S. Senate seat in Utah received a list of delegates elected Tuesday night, sending them emails although all candidates are supposed to receive these lists at the same time.

The party later deleted this post, replacing it with a more “matter-of-fact” statement which stated Romney had emailed delegates, congratulating them but the party had not received the lists.

The Salt Lake Tribune attempted to interview Romney campaign spokeswoman MJ Henshaw but she declined comment.

Party chair Teena Horlacher told KUTV-TV Channel 2 of Salt Lake City that a local party official gave the Romney campaign the names of delegates.
