HATCH, Utah (AP)-Per the official Twitter of UDOT,a crash has stalled traffic south of Hatch during a busy weekend in the Garfield County area.
With the Panguitch Balloon Festival underway and running through Sunday, traffic is at a high level in the area and a crash occurred at milepost 111 on U.S. Highway 89.
This is roughly five miles south of Hatch, making it about 20 miles south of Panguitch.
UDOT estimates the crash occurred at 1:46 pm MDT with a clearance time of 3:14 pm MDT.
Because of the Brian Head Fire, S.R. 143 is inaccessible for those seeking an alternate route but S.R. 20 is accessible and is located about 10 miles north of Panguitch.
This route connects to Interstate 15 about 10 miles north of Paragonah.
