(Salt Lake City, UT) — Governor Cox is moving quickly to sign two bills recently passed by the Utah Legislature into law. Cox signed House Bill 215 and Senate Bill 16 on Saturday. HB215 gives Utah teachers a raise, but also creates a scholarship program for parents who choose to homeschool their children or send them to private schools. Senate Bill 16 bans gender-affirming surgery and hormone therapies for Utah children. Cox said in a statement that he gave the bill careful consideration and was grateful for its “nuanced and thoughtful approach” to a terribly divisive issue.
