Cox Asks Congress For Permanent Residency For Afghan Refugees

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah Governor Spencer Cox is one of two Republican governors asking Congress to support permanent legal residency for Afghan refugees. Cox joined 12 other governors in a letter last week asking for legislation that would allow refugees to apply for residency. The governor said in a statement that those who have resettled in Utah deserve permanent residency in light of their aid to the U.S. military effort in Afghanistan. Vermont Governor Phil Scott was the only other member of the GOP to join Cox in signing the letter.
