The Millard County Sheriff’s office is crediting a lifeguard and an off-duty EMT for saving a 2-year-old from drowning in Delta on Saturday.
According to a press release from the Sheriff’s office, the child was spotted deep under the surface of the deep end of the West Millard Swimming Pool after they had slipped from the shallows.
Joseph Bliss, the lifeguard, pulled the child from the water. Gretchen Baker, an EMT from Nevada who happened to be there performed CPR and the boy who eventually coughed up water and began breathing and crying.
The child is now doing well after he was taken to the hospital.
Officials are calling the lifeguard and EMT heroes following this incident.
