Changes to Alcohol Regulation In Utah Go Into Effect Today

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Changes to how alcohol is regulated in Utah went into effect yesterday. The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control will now be called the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services to emphasize its contributions to assist the hospitality and tourism industries. DABS will also make nine new bar licenses available for new businesses. Licenses issued to a hotel or resort will no longer be considered in the state’s allocation of allowable licenses. Restaurants can also offer beer-to-go in sealed containers.
