Chaffetz:  Congress Will Go After Former Presidents’ Pensions

(Washington, DC)  –  Congressman Jason Chaffetz is indicating Congress will try to cut pension payments to former presidents.  A bill that was first introduced last year would cut presidential pension payments to 200-thousand-dollars a year if an ex-president makes 400-thousand or more in outside income once they leave office.  The Utah Republican showed his support for the measure in a tweet yesterday that included a link to a “USA Today” story about the bill.  The decision to revive the bill follows news that President Obama received 400-thousand-dollars for a speech in New York City last month.Â
