Central Utah Public Health Department Confirms First COVID-19 Death in Millard County

Richfield, UT October 7, 2020 – The Central Utah Public Health Department (CUPHD) was notified on Wednesday October 7 of the death of a Millard County resident due to COVID-19. The individual was a female over the age of 85 with underlying health conditions.

“We are saddened to learn of another death in our central Utah residents due to COVID-19, and our condolences go to the family and friends of this individual.” said Nate Selin, CUPHD’s Health Officer. “As we see cases increasing in our health district and across the state, we urge residents to do all they can to help protect each other. Wearing a mask, social distancing, and staying home if you have any of the symptoms of COVID are critical to protecting the health of all individuals in our community.”

CUPHD reminds the public that COVID-19 is still actively spreading, and precautions should be taken to protect all residents, particularly those at highest risk of severe cases of COVID-19. Additionally, if you have symptoms of COVID-19, testing is readily available throughout the community. Local medical providers, mobile testing units, and local health department offices currently offer testing services for symptomatic members of the public.
