(Salt Lake City, UT) — Multiple candidates are filing paperwork to enter the upcoming special election for the Second District congressional seat. Former Utah House Speaker Greg Hughes, former U.S. Senate candidate Becky Edwards and current GOP national committee member Bruce Hough have entered the race for the Republican nomination. Former congressional candidate January Walker has also filed paperwork as a candidate for the United Utah Party. More candidates are expected to enter the race to replace Congressman Chris Stewart, who plans to step down in September.
