(Provo, UT) — BYU students are using a robotic bee to help research the ways bee communicate. Computer science student Caelen Miller said they’ve been working hard to crack the code of the honeybee’s waggle dance. Miller says they’re using cameras to analyze the bees perform the waggle when they return from collecting nectar and pollen. The robotic bee will be used to send signals to the other bees and it’ll give them specific directions on where to go. Miller says the research has been several years in the making and they’ll plan on having the robotic bee working by the end of the summer.
