BYU Speech Program Keeps Accreditation

(Provo, UT) — The speech pathology program at Brigham Young University will keep its accreditation, despite discrimination allegations involving transgender clients. The master’s program and speech clinic announced earlier this year it would no longer helps transgender individuals seeking therapy to match the tone and pitch of the voice to their gender identity. The school owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stated social transitioning did not align with the faith’s policies.
