BYU: Half Of Utah Residents Are Overwatering Lawns

(Provo, UT) — A study conducted by Brigham Young University shows that half of Utah residents are watering their lawns too much. Researchers with the civil engineering department found many homeowners are using water to keep their grass green in lieu of fertilizing the lawns properly, or changing the soil they are using. According to the study, lawns should only need eight-to-12 inches of water a month to achieve maximum irrigation benefits. At least half of all lawns studied were beyond that threshold.
