Bus Driver Arrested for DUI with Students on Board in Sevier County

A bus driver for the Sevier School District has been arrested after police say he was under the influence with children on board his bus. On Sept. 15, Sevier County Sheriff’s deputies acted on an anonymous complaint and found the bus in line outside South Sevier Middle School. David Arnold Oldroyd, age 57, was administered a blood test that came back positive for alcohol and another test at the Sevier county Jail showed a .150 blood alcohol content level. Oldroyd was charged with six counts of driving under the influence with passengers under the age of 16. Sevier School District shared in a statement “parents of students assigned to the bus were notified immediately that their children would be coming home on a different bus and a new driver has been assigned.”
