Burglary of Central Valley home results in 3 arrests

Three Sevier County residents have been arrested after allegedly burglarizing a home in Central Valley.

According to a report from Sevier County Sheriff Nate Curtis deputies were called to a house at 80 N. Main Street in Central Valley on Sunday, October 13. Deputies met with the daughter and son-in-law of the deceased homeowner on report of a burglary.

The family of the home owner reported that they came by to check on the house and found two flat screen tv’s, a box fan, and a jewelry box missing from the home. The burglars gained access to the house by forcing open the back door and breaking a window on the front of the house with a large rock.

The report states deputies found footprints outside the window and in the home with a crisscross pattern. Deputies found the same footprints at the next door residence. They made contact at that residence with 20-year-old Christiano Reyes of Richfield, 24-year-old Daniel Brian of Central Valley, and 24-year-old Victoria Battistic of Salina.

The three individuals denied any knowledge of the burglary, but separately all told different stories. The report also states that while the deputies were at the house they discovered Brian burning evidence from the burglary.

A warrant was obtained and the search resulted in the discovery of the stolen items from the victim’s residence. Reyes and Battistic were placed into custody for investigation and during the arrest deputies found two methamphetamine pipes with burnt residue and a clear plastic baggie with white crystal residue on Reyes. The residue on the pipe was field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Battistic was booked into the Sevier County Jail on charges of Burglary, Obstruction of Justice, and Receiving Stolen Property. Reyes was booked on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Charges are still pending for Brian.
