(Salt Lake City, UT) — A bill that would stop Utah animal shelters from using the gas chamber to put down animals has cleared the state Senate. Senate Bill 69 would require all Utah shelters to use injections to put down animals. The Humane Society of the United States says Utah is one of three states that still allows shelters to use a gas chamber for euthanasia. The bill now goes to the House for consideration.
