Firefighters in Sevier County had a busy fourth of July. Firefighters responded to a dumpster fire behind Dollar General, a dumpster fire at the Central Valley LDS Church, a fire near the Richfield water tank, a fire north of I-70 exit 40, two other fires in Richfield, a fire in Elsinore, and one other fire in Redmond all on July 4. According to Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis, all appeared to be firework related. He stated, “I recommend people be cautious where they light fireworks, know what their kids are doing, and to make sure you soak the remnants of the fireworks before putting them in your trash can.” He also shared his appreciation for all our local firefighters “for being so quick to respond to these calls on a holiday.”
