(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah law enforcement officials say 70 people in the state were arrested for DUI over the holiday weekend. That’s nearly double the figure from last year, when 36 people were arrested for impaired driving. Sergeant Cameron Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol says 2023’s holiday weekend is something he and other law enforcement officials want to learn from, adding that impaired driving and associated crashes have been increasing in Utah. However, he also said last year’s harsh winter may have kept more people off the roads, leading to fewer DUI arrests.
