SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah family has reached a $3 million settlement with Salt Lake City in a lawsuit filed after officers shot and wounded a 13-year-old boy with autism in September 2020. Family attorney Nathan Morris announced the settlement Tuesday. He says 13-year-old Linden Cameron suffered life-changing injuries and still has bullets lodged in his body. The shooting was one of several nationwide in recent years that fueled questions about police responses to calls involving people with mental illness. A Salt Lake City spokesman says the city began and continues to provide training after the shooting for police and other responders in such cases.
