200M-Year-Old Fossil Discovered At Zion National Park

(Zion National Park, UT) — Paleontologists are showing off a prehistoric fish fossil that was recently unearthed in southern Utah. The estimated 200-million-year-old fish was discovered in Zion National Park by a team consisting of St. George scientists and National Park Service officials. One group member told St. George News the fish is related to a modern-day species that swims around in the Indian Ocean, but the fossilized creature would’ve been found in freshwater. The news outlet also reported the find as the most significant body fossil of the species to be recovered in the park to date.
