SALT LAKE CITY-Saturday, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert, via an announcement from the Jazz, will donate $500,000 to support the employee relief fund at Vivint Smart Home Arena and COVID-19 related social services relief in Utah, Oklahoma City and within the French healthcare system.
This pledged donation will provide $200,000 in aid to part-time employees at Vivint Smart Home Arena who are not able to work because of the present postponement of NBA games and other entertainment events at the facility.
Furthermore, Gobert will contribute $100,000 apiece to assist families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Utah and Oklahoma City and 100.00 euros for his native France.
Emerging areas of pressing need include childcare assistance to healthcare workers and caregivers to the elderly.
Vivint Smart Home Arena employs more than 800 part-time employees for work events. These include food service, security, guest services, custodial and more.
Four upcoming events have been postponed through the end of April and the Jazz had 10 more games on its schedule at the arena prior to this postponement.
