Donald Trump Addresses Media Monday

WASHINGTON-Monday, United States President Donald Trump again addressed the media as part of what has become a daily series in briefing the nation on the coronavirus.

An upbeat Trump said that “amazing progress” is being made on therapeutics.

Trump sent out prayers to his colleague, Boris Johnson, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, who had fallen ill because of COVID-19 and is currently on the mend.

Trump jubilantly declared that the White House had entered into a deal with Saint Paul, Minn.-based 3m to make 166.5 million masks.

Trump continued by saying that “a lot of things we’ve done are going directly to the states,” for any aid or assistance they may require.

Trump also said that states have to continually share information with the White House concerning their needs so that they can be assisted with supplies.

Incidentally, when addressing the media Monday, Utah state epidemiologist Angela Dunn said the state is running low on swabs and has had to order more.

Trump then said that the United States leads the world in positive tests for COVID-19 because they test more people than any other nation. These statistics can be verified by any metric used to track this disease.

Trump confirmed that the U.S. has conducted 1,790,000 tests for coronavirus.

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director, Dr. Anthony Fauci, when asked concerning whether the U.S. can ever get “back to normal” or not, replied, “When we get back to normal, we will get back gradually to the point where we can function as a society. I believe that with the therapies coming online, we will never have to be back where we are right now.”

Trump remained resolute in his comments concerning whether the entire country should be locked down as he said such a measure is unnecessary.

Trump continued, saying that those states that are doing what are asked with a less strict policy than has been seen in other places are being obedient without having to be sealed up.

Trump also did not commit to April 30 being the date when everything can get back to normal, but said “we’ll try.”

When asked about some purported controversial comments she had made earlier Monday about not going grocery shopping or to the pharmacy for two weeks, White House Coronavirus Task Force coronavirus response coordinator, Dr. Deborah Birx clarified that she really meant only one person from a household should go grocery shopping.

Furthermore, she said that one trip to the grocery store and the pharmacy every two weeks can be sufficient.”
