WASHINGTON-Tuesday, United States President Donald Trump again addressed the media during a Tuesday briefing concerning COVID-19 at the White House.
A somber Trump began his comments by saying this is the first section of 30 days to slow the spread. He stuck to his guns concerning the target date of April 30 as a target date for social distancing rules to be relaxed nationwide.
He did say, however, that these will be a “difficult two weeks” upcoming because, per data released last Thursday, the expected date for the peak of the coronavirus in the U.S. is April 14.
White House coronavirus Task Force Response Coordinator, Dr. Deborah Birx, then showed a series of models showing that if social distancing regulations continue to be adhered, what is a “mountain” can gradually become a “hill.”
She cited Washington state’s remarkable recovery from early COVID-19 issues by following social distancing procedures. While Washington is not done with the coronavirus, they have greatly mollified their issues from their inception, she confirmed.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said that while the numbers will keep going up until the peak occurs, all Americans must remain undaunted.
During his remarks, Fauci suggested that if the proper procedures that have been outlined are followed, things will continue to get better.
Trump and the coronavirus task force will again address the media Wednesday.
