Richfield Man Leads Deputies on High-Speed Chase

A Richfield man was hospitalized and will face charges after leading police on a high-speed chase on Central Utah highways April 16. A Sevier County Sheriff’s deputy was driving west on State Route 119 in the evening when his radar notified him of a vehicle traveling over 80 mph. The deputy didn’t see any head or taillights and pulled over near Loftus Meats where a dirt bike blasted past him. The deputy quickly turned around and caught up to the motorcyclist who was crossing the center median repeatedly and traveling in the wrong lane. The deputy lost sight of the dirt bike after it sped off into the Glenwood cemetery. Other deputies and Richfield City Police arrived to help and cordoned off the area. Deputies that were searching the area later stopped a vehicle on Black Knoll Road. The driver informed deputies that her husband was laying in a concrete ditch in front of them. The officers found Patrick Jensen, 39, Richfield, laying in the ditch next to the motorcycle that police had been chasing. Jensen had a Savage .17 caliber rifle slung around his body inside the jacket he was wearing. An ambulance took Jensen to the Sevier Valley Hospital. The Sheriff’s Office has recommended that Jensen be charged with Evading, Reckless Driving, No Utah Registration.
