(Salt Lake City, UT) – Utah’s political leaders have apparently gotten the President’s attention on the issue of how national monuments are created. Sources inside the White House have told the “Salt Lake Tribune” that President Trump will sign an executive order seeking a review of national monument designations over the last two decades. The Wednesday order will also seek a review of whether the executive branch has exceeded its authority in creating national monuments without congressional approval. Utah’s Republican leaders have been calling on the President to reduce or eliminate national monument designations for the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante areas as part of a review of federal oversight of public lands.Â
