Central Utah is preparing to say good by to a man who helped fight the drug problem in our area. Dwight Jenkins, 62, is the commander of the Central Utah Narcotics Task Force until the end of the month. Jenkins began his law enforcement career in San Diego, California where he stayed for over two years. In 1984 he came back to his home state and was an officer with Monroe City police. When the policing in Monroe was taken over by the county in 1988, Jenkins began his work with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy. From there he made the move to the narcotics task force in 1999. He was made the commander of the task force a few years ago. During his time in law enforcement he has many changes over the years. Jenkins says that marijuana remains a problem, but other drugs and prescription overdoses are becoming more common. Jenkins says he is looking forward to spending more time with his family and working on his small farm.
