SALT LAKE CITY-Monday, news broke that sophomore University of Utah men’s basketball center Lahat Thioune has reportedly pulled his name from the transfer portal.
Thioune, a native of Dakar, Senegal, put his name in the portal March 15, a day after former Utes head coach Larry Krystkowiak was fired.
Thioune decided to return to Utah a week after the Utes hired their new head coach, Craig Smith.
In his two seasons with the Utes, Thioune averages 1.4 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.
Thioune joins junior small forward Riley Battin as a Ute who has exited the transfer portal.
Utes from last season who presently remain in the transfer portal include sophomore forward Jordan Kellier, junior small forward Timmy Allen and senior guard Alfonso Plummer.
