UVU Men’s Basketball Receives Two WAC Player of the Week Honors

OREM, Utah-Monday, Utah Valley University men’s basketball received two WAC player of the week honors.

Redshirt sophomore Fardaws Aimaq was named the WAC’s TicketSmarter Player of the Week by averaging 15.5 points and 19 rebounds per game in two contests against Dixie State this past week, an 87-72 win over the Trailblazers Friday and a 93-89 loss to Dixie State Saturday.

Aimaq’s 25 rebounds against the Trailblazers Saturday was the most in Division I in an individual game this season.

Aimaq’s 232 rebounds (15.5 rebounds per game) tie him for the national lead with Austin Peay senior forward Terry Taylor and he is tied for third nationally in double-doubles (12) with Little Rock senior forward Ruot Monyyong and Western Kentucky junior center Charles Bassey.

Wolverines junior guard Trey Woodbury was named the College Sports Madness WAC player of the week.

In the split against Dixie State, Woodbury averaged 22.5 points, 4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game.

The 7-8 Wolverines (5-2 in WAC play) return to action Friday and Saturday at Las Cruces, N.M. to face the New Mexico State Aggies at the Pan American Center.
