(Salt Lake City, UT) – Supporters of the use of medical marijuana in Utah say their effort to get the issue on the 2018 ballot is just getting started. The consultant advising the groups behind the effort says their statewide initiative will focus on allowing the use of the whole marijuana plant rather than extracts taken from it. Supporters plan to submit their initiative to the lieutenant governor’s office next month, beginning a long process that includes approval of the language and public hearings. Once approved, the groups will have to gather over 100-thousand valid signatures by next April to put the initiative on the ballot.
