SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Less than a quarter of the 127,375 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines reportedly received in Utah have been used as of the end of the year. Rich Lakin, immunization program director with the Utah Department of Health said the initial rollout of the vaccine has been slower than anticipated, but the department hopes to increase the pace in the next 15 days. More than 6,000 additional doses were reportedly administered in Utah on Thursday, double the daily increases earlier in the week. Health department spokesperson Tom Hudachko said the increase is because local health departments and long-term care facilities are able to give doses much faster than hospitals.
