(Panguitch, UT) – Officials in southern Utah are ready to lift some road closures and let some people evacuated from the Brian Head Fire start trickling home. The sheriff of Garfield County told those attending a community meeting in Panguitch last night that part of Highway 143 will reopen this morning. The roadway will reopen from Panguitch to the Panguitch Lake Resort, but the rest of the roadway from there will remain closed. The town manager of Brian Head says the evacuation order for that community will likely be lifted tomorrow morning. Fire officials also told those attending the meeting that they expect to have containment on the southern edge of the 54-thousand-acre fire by Sunday.Â
